...our one-year-old is EVERYWHERE! It's true, it's true, our boy is one His birthday bash was tons of fun! On Saturday, we celebrated Soren's birthday with some wonderful friends, Dr. Seuss Style! Abby helped me come up with the poem on the invites - we had a lot of fun copying "The Doctor".
Ben helped with the decorations.
A wonderful neighbor provided the banners.
and "The Cat" welcomed our happy guests as they arrived.
Soren woke up from his nap feeling a bit sick, so we actually let him sleep through the first hour of his birthday party. Since the birthday boy wasn't there - we didn't snap any photos of the Sneech-Style Frankfurter Roast.

Soren woke up from his nap feeling a bit sick, so we actually let him sleep through the first hour of his birthday party. Since the birthday boy wasn't there - we didn't snap any photos of the Sneech-Style Frankfurter Roast. Fast-forward to the play-by-play of the cake:
At first, Soren was intruiged by this colorful cake. As we were singing, he grabbed a handful of icing...
....took a little taste as he eyed the crowd of people singing at him...
...then let us know EXACTLY what he thought of the whole ordeal. He was NOT impressed by his first encounter with flaming sweets.
So, we allowed him to take a little breather and play with his presents while everyone else enjoyed their cake. He's looking a bit beat up by the cake - I guess I can't blame him for crying!
After a little down-time, we went in for round two. He was a bit cautious, but more interested this time.
His first real taste elicited just a tiny speck of a smile.
Then my boy started pounding that cake! Slow and steady, within 10 minutes, that cake was a mere pile of crumbs. Yay Soren!
It was a great evening full of people we love!
Since it was pretty rainy and cold, we busted that pinata open inside our new shed.
Daddy and Abby went a little bonkers with the favors.
Sweet Soren loved all of his new toys, but when the playing was over - he went right back to his trusty blankie. Aunt Lisa - Best. Baby. Gift. EVER!
But after his friend party was over, Soren was still in for one more celebration! Last year, his cousin Lexi's party was crashed when he decided to make an early appearance and be born on her birthday! Luckily, she's very forgiving and this year we partied with cousins at the first annual "SoLex" birthday bash!
