Baby Soso

When Soren was born, we spent the first 2 weeks worried and praying that he would grow and gain weight. Now, I find myself wishing he would slow down! He's growing so fast! I can do laundry and find that outfits he wore last week no longer fit. He's no longer a floppy little newborn. Rather, he now spends his days wide-eyed and alert, busily taking in the world around him. Whenever a family member walks into the room to say hi, his entire body reacts. His face lights up and his mouth bursts into a huge, open mouth grin. His arms and legs begin wiggling and he coos with delight at any sign of attention.

His low weight in the hospital was 5 lb 8 oz, and at his last doctor appointment, he was a whopping 11 lbs 5 oz! Although he is growing fast and looks strong, his immune system is still pretty weak. In the past 4 weeks, he's developed reflux, had one cold with major nasal congestion and is currently fighting his 3rd ear infection. It seems like no matter how hard we try to keep him home and away from germs, they find their way to him.

Despite it all, he is a delightful little boy with a very easy going attitude. He loves sitting in his vibrating chair and looking out windows, watching the birdies in the backyard, rides in the bike trailer, walks in the sling, swaddle baths (thanks for that gem of a tip Nurse Andrea!) and smiling at that darling baby in the mirror. His brother and sister have nicknamed him, "Baby Soso" and the poor kid is going to grow up thinking that's his name as we rarely call him anything else.

We're blessing Soren on Sunday, June 27th at 9:00 AM. If you're interested in joining us and need directions - please email me at 2rlowry@gmail.com.

Hey! He's so darling and so are your others :) Our little Sam is 5 months now and such a joy. Being a mom is the hardest job ever, but so worth it. I hope you're well. I love being able to see what you're up to (found you through Steph Strasser's blog)
