The Birds and the Bees

This is my niece Lexi. She is a very inquisitive 5 year old who asks a lot of very thoughtful questions. The other day she was asking me what the red spots on the back of Soren's head are. I explained that the doctor called them "Stork Bites" and assured her that they didn't hurt him at all. Of course, she wanted to know what exactly a stork was and why on earth one would bite such a tiny little thing like Soren.

We continued to have a 10 minute discussion on storks. I explained to her common beliefs, we discussed the anatomy of storks, the size and shape of their beaks, the color of the blankets the babies are wrapped in, how they drop the babies off, whether or not she had ever seen one in the sky...just about every detail of stork folklore there is, we covered. Finally, Lexi seemed content in her new found knowledge and sat thoughtfully processing.

After a few minutes of silence, she turned to me and asked with all seriousness, "Rachel? Did I come from a Dork too?"
Yes Lexi. Yes, you came from one of my favorite dorks of all...
