Let it Snow!

The week before Christmas brought the first substantial snow of the season to our backyard. Abby had very little patience for breakfast that morning - she wanted to get out and play in her very own winter wonderland. After a quick meal of snowman-shaped pancakes, it was time to bundle up and dive into the snow. I was extra excited this year to teach Abby how to make her first snow angel. (Last year she didn't exactly understand the concept of getting up carefully so you could see your angel afterward.)
After the angels, Abby strapped on her skiis (yes, the same ones she used all summer to "ski" around the basement) and took a tour of the backyard.
After a brief break to lay in the snow and look up at the sky...

...she insisted on sledding. Seeing as how our yard is perfectly flat, this was a good workout for mommy. Abby yelled, "Giddy-up horsie, faster, faster" at the top of her lungs and squealed with delight as I raced around the yard.

The only dissappointment was that the snow was so fluffy and light, we couldn't pack it into balls to use the snowman making kit our neighbors gave us for Christmas. But winter has just begun, hopefully they'll be plenty of opportunities to make our own personal Frosty.
