Mmmmmmmmmmm

At his four month doctor appointment, Isaac was told that he was ready to begin eating like a big boy. Feeling a little freaked out by how fast my baby is growing, I dug the high chair out of storage, cleaned it thoroughly and plopped him down for his first real meal. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, I guess I'd forgotten how little actually makes it into the mouth.

This was Isaac's facial expression during the entire experience. Pleasant enough, I think he was enjoying himself - but that pesky little tongue just wouldn't budge. I'd wipe the rice cereal off of the spoon and onto his tongue, he'd smile a bit, and eventually the drool would pool up enough to send the food in a little stream onto his bib.

Abby, of course, was right there - cheering him on the entire time...

...that is, until she realized that "Elmo Baby" was hungry too.

After just a few feedings, he caught onto the idea and now I have to keep at least 6 spoons on hand at every meal - one for me, one for him, and four to replace his when it ends up on the floor.

"KEEP IT COMING, MOMMY!"
