Teacher's Pet

On Friday my students and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a breakfast party. Abby always loves a good party, so I decided to bring her along. The party didn't start until 9:30, but Abby was happy to be a part of our class reading time for the first half hour of school. She sat at the front of the room and beamed as I told the class I had a little helper with me. My students were so cute with her - all anxious to read with her and play with her and make her feel welcome in our classroom. Of course, she chose to have her cousin Ian be her reading buddy. He was a good sport and read Junie B. Jones books to her all morning. During the party, she was just another one of the big kids. One of my room mothers brought in valentine's chopstick game and had her 3 year old son with her. Abby was careful to seperate herself from the "little kids" by listening carefully to the instructions and playing along with my students.

Isaac and Daddy crashed the party a little later - Isaac set up camp at my desk with every single one of his matchbox cars.

During breakfast, my students argued over who got to sit by Abby, and who got to help her decorate her heart-shaped waffle.

This picture of Isaac just cracks me up - he looks so little trying to sit at the end of the big red table like the other kids.

I can't believe my little girl will really be a big school kid next year! They grow up way too fast...
