Butterfly Bridge

A few days ago, the kids and I were itchin' to go hiking. So we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and started on the trail. At the first stream crossing, Abby gasped with delight and said, "MOMMY! Look at all those BUTTERFLIES!" Indeed, there were swarms and swarms of beautiful butterflies drinking from the stream and stretching their wings in the sun.
There were tiny blue ones, big yellow ones and medium sized orange and black ones. Of course, we stood and admired for a good 15 minutes, but then decided we needed to cross the stream and get on with the hike. Instead of flying away, a few of the little creatures kept landing on Abby. It was so much fun!

Perhaps it was her flower hat, perhaps the pink shirt - but whatever it was, they sure couldn't get enough of my girl! She loved it! (My big tough Isaac, on the other hand - screamed in terror each time one of those ferocious beasts got near him.)

What a beautiful day to be in the mountains!

SUMMER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!
