On July 24th, 2007, our little Isaac turned one year old. We celebrated in style at his very first pioneer birthday party, complete with butter making, covered wagon crafts, handcart relay races, taffy pulling, dutch oven cooking, homemade bread and jam and a wagon birthday cake. Isaac celebrated with some of his very favorite people.
Here are some of the kids making covered wagons out of various treats.

My sweet neighbor, Aurelie, helped the kids pull taffy.
Papa with his pals on the hammock.

and of course, the presents...

Okay, so maybe he liked the tags the most.
But we all got "the sniff" over and over all day long - a sure sign of approval from little I-Z.
Abby was PETRIFIED by her own birthday cake when she turned one, but three years later it seems, she's overcome all cake-inhibitions.

Isaac was intrigued from the first note. "Happy Birthday to you..."
He started with the fingers...
and then the other fingers...
Then discovered a much faster way.

Happy birthday Isaac. We love you buddy, and are so grateful to have you as a part of our family.
