Breathin' Easy

Do you notice anything different about this sweet little face? Let me give you a hint: NO MORE OXYGEN OR FEEDING TUBE!!!!!! Yay Baby Soren!
Yesterday afternoon the doctor met with me and told me to prepare myself for the likelyhood of Soren coming home on oxygen. He assured me that Soren is making great progress and will be able to come home on Sunday, but he may still need oxygen for a few days up to a few weeks. He explained to me how it would work, what equipment we would need, and how to monitor his oxygen levels. It wasn't the greatest news in the world, but I was still thrilled to know that a little breathing trouble would not prevent my baby from coming home on Easter!
So, you can imagine my surprise when I went in to Soren's room this morning to find a beaming nurse hovering over Soren's warmer. I wondered what was making her so happy and went to say good morning to my son. It took me a moment to figure out why he looked so different. Then it dawned on me that she had taken out his tubes! She explained to me that after the visit with the doctor, Soren's oxygen level continued to climb and climb. She did a short "Room Air Trial" in the wee hours of the morning and he did great. So she removed both the feeding tube and the oxygen prongs at the same time. He's done great all day long and is gaining weight and eating like a champ. Looks like once again, my boy is exceeding all expectations. Another small miracle.
Now Soren is officially doing everything on his own. He is receiving no support except the lights he's under to treat his Jaundice. We expect that he'll graduate off those tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see Abby and Isaac's faces when they see what the Easter Bunny delivers to their house this Sunday!

what a relief for both Soren & you all. You have the most amazing family. They are so blessed to have you as their mentor. I wish you were in my family. Hugs to all. Happy Easter
