Old Man Lowry

Today my awesome husband turned 36. Happy birthday Ben! For the past few years he's shared his birthday weekend with a neighborhood children's race called the Mountair Mile that he organizes to raise money for a nonprofit organization called The Sharing Place. What a wonderful project, great event, and incredible organization. To learn more about the race, and view the official race photos (soon to be added), visit: http://www.mountairacres.blogspot.com/. This year's race proved to be quite the challenge for my two little racers. Between the two of them, we totaled 3 wipeouts, 15 meltdowns, and one detour-to-the-house-for-a-potty-break during the course of the whopping 1.1 mile race around the neighborhood. Phew!

But at the finish line, Isaac perked right up at the chance to run through the water. He ran faster through that thing than he did on the entire race.

This is Abby before the race. She and her best buddy Avery had good intentions of winning the thing. Those intentions lasted approximately 39.8 seconds.

All in all, it was a wonderful race - we had a great turnout and it was fun to see so many family and friends from all over the state gather together for a racin-good time!

Today Ben spent the afternoon relaxing with his little buddies; relieved that the race was over and another successful fundraiser was under his belt.

After a yummy dutch oven dinner in the backyard, Abby and I whipped up some delicious chocolate cupcakes for daddy.

Papa brought his famous homemade ice cream.

And Isaac blew (okay, let's be honest...spit) out Daddy's candles three times before we could successfully make it through the song.

Happy birthday Ben!

Happy Birthday Big Brother.
I tried calling a few times. It seems you were busy with the festivities.
Congratulations on another successful race.
See you in a few days!
